Duck Stamp Artist proposed for postage stamp

Bob Hines, a talented wildlife artist and longtime U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service employee, had a profound influence on how federal duck stamps are selected.

Hines, who designed the 1946 federal stamp (RW13), helped manage the duck stamp contest judging for more than 30 years. He also designed four wildlife conservation postage stamps for the U.S. Postal Service.

Dr. John Juriga, who has been working on a book about Hines for the past several years, is heading the push to recognized Hines with a commemorative postage stamp in 2012 - the 100th anniversary of Hines birth. (Hopefully, if the stamp is approved, the first day event will be held in conjunction with either the federal duck stamp contest or the first day of sale.)

Those who wish to voice their support for the stamp should write to: Citizen's Stamp Advisory Committee, c/o Stamp Development, U.S. Postal Service, 1735 N. Lynn St., Suite 5013, Arlington, VA 22209-6432. Send in your vote today!!
