The Duck Stamp Story wins Gold Medal

The Duck Stamp Story, by Bob Dumaine and Eric Jay Dolin, was the recipient of a Gold Medal in the literature competition at the APS Stampshow held last August in Chicago.

The annual literature competition honors a variety of works, all philatelic in nature, including books, catalogs, articles/columns and newsletters.

The Duck Stamp Story won the Handbook category. Other duck stamp related winners included a Silver-Bronze in Periodicals for The National Duck Stamp Collectors Society newsletter, Duck Tracks, editor Frank Jordan. The Sam Houston Duck Co. 2001 Duck Stamp Catalog was a Silver-Bronze winner in the Catalog category.

Upon learning the judging results, Dumaine said he was “honored to receive this award. It is great to see duck stamps acknowledged, as well as the tremendous amount of work that went into this book.

“The research done by Eric Dolin is an important part of the history of duck stamps and with the publication of The Duck Stamp Story we can guarantee this history will not be lost.”

Autographed books are available from SHDC. $39.95 hardcover and $23.95 softcover (please add $6 s&h).

Stampshow 2002 is schedule for August 15-18 in Atlantic City, N.J.
